Marathon Tips - essential kit list

If you are running a Marathon this year then below is a list of some of the most essential items you will need to help you achieve your Marathon goals.  The list is by no means exhaustive but it is a good starting point for you to think about what you will need for your big day.

*The Right Shoes - Your big day is very very important.  If you have made it through the training then you don't want to ruin the day with ill fitting shoes.  If you have had gait analysis from experienced staff then they will ensure that the shoes will fit you.  If you are looking for race day shoes then go to a store that a) you feel comfortable with and b) where you know you are going to be talked through the options.
*Timex Global Trainer - A great piece of kit, easy to use, multi-function training tool that will track your progress during the preceding months to the day of reckoning.
*Socks - These can make or break an event. The right socks can help prevent blisters and ensure extra cushioning.  Make sure that they are washed before your big day and that they fit well.
*Garmin Forerunner 110 - A brilliant tool for accurately recording speed, distance, heart rate and more; with the look and feel of a regular sports watch.  This will keep you on track during the event.
*The Ultimate guide to marathon running - A suberb, concise and informative magbook full of top tips to help you train and reach your goals.
*Sports Bra - An essential item for all female runners.  A female runner needs 3 essential pieces of kit.  Shoes, socks and a good sports bra.
*Energy gels & Gel carrier - Easy to comsume on the go, for when you need that extra energy boost.  Great for race day and great for training.
*Suitable Running clothing - Lightweight and breathable range of clothes will help you train and race, whatever the conditions.  Make sure that you train in winter in clothing that will protect you from the elements and for race day, make sure that you have kit that you are comfortable in.  The event could be long and clothing that isn't right, could make it a whole lot longer.
*Race belt/Number belt - Saves tearing holes in your vest with safety pins!
